These instructions are for a J4 ecu, all you need to do is cross reference the pinout for your E5 ecu with the same wires. Should do the same thing. Here's a pinout chart and instructions for pulling codes.

Pin 24 on your ECU is the malfunction lamp output (LED). Wire a light between this pin and +12V. Pin 23 will act as your "screw". Tapping that to +12V for 2 seconds is the equivalent of turning the screw clockwise. So, turn the ignition to "ON", wire up the light (should be on), tap pin 23 to +12V for 2 seconds and release. The codes should come blinking out.

The way it is supposed to work (the way Nissan intended it) is pin 24 should connect to the red wire on F1, which goes to the check engine light on the S13. Pin 23 should connect to the green/red on F1 that goes to the Consult connector (for S13, only 91-94). The consult port provides +12V in the adjacent space on the Consult connector for you to short. Then you'd read codes flashing out on the check engine light.

god i wish mine did. ive got a piggy so i dont have the consult port. i dont know of any other way than this thread to check them. ive found the one where you hook it up to the check engine light and ive got a dual cam cluster, but i cant jump the two pins like your supposed to.

You could try doing what I did to my 91 240 w/ N62 sr2o ECU.

zerothread?id=415914

Works for the 63, E5 and E6 sr20 ECUs. Assuming that your 240is 91-94, of course.

Oh...What you can do is wire an LED and pin to empty slot pin 24 (sr20 ecu harness) and I believe the other end to 12v. Pin 23 acts as the screw. Tapping that to +12v for 2 sec is the same as turning the screw, clockwise.

Mine don't, Jeff (heavythrottle) Told me that very few (older E5) had the light and newer motorsets came with the no light cause it was wired to flash in the dash in the 180's
