Damn, now I'm confused hardcore. Alright, I always used to say Tanabe like this: Tah-nah-bay, then I heard some other people saying it like this: Tah-naah-bee. Which is correct? As for NICO, think of the way you say Ni in Nissan, apply that Ni to NICO, makes sense I think, not sure though.

how about NOS? every import person ive heard says NAWWWSSS, but every other person ive ever heard says N.O.S (En, Oh, Es). ive always said N.O.S. and it kinda pisses me off when people say NAWWWSSS cos its been around a lot longer than FF and FF was the first time i ever heard NAWS. after that I was like "aw crap, im gonna have to hear this all the time now arent I" and i was right. someone should write to N.O.S. ( Nitrous Oxide Systems) and ask them whats the dilli-o

What about 5Zigen? I'm pretty sure it's Go-zigen (Go=5 in Japanese) but when I say it like that people look at me weird.

honda = hone dahtanabe = tah nah behI also like to pronounce GReddy as G-Reddy, but I get a lot of crap for it from my friends... they all say its greddy i dont really know nor care so I do what I want! I also refrain from using NAWS as opposed to like, nitrous oxide system, except when Im talking about the actual brand, nos.

OK hold on now. We've gone too far, too fast. I think Im spinning now.

BTW: I called one of TEIN's customer service lines. Its kinda like AZHitman said, but a little more -ei- sound in the middle. like altiman said originally, but with a japanese engrish pronunciation.

Like I said, the spelling makes sense to me; remember i before E except after C? Think back to elementary school.

you can't apply english pronunciation rules to words that aren't english and expect to get the right results.

was the person you talked to at tein japanese?

i found a promotional movie on their website here

you can hear the narrator say it at 0:38

just before that he mentions TEchnical INnovation so i searched around on the english side and found this page, where it says "Origin of our company name The company name "TEIN" was named after a combination of the firsttwo letters, "TE"chnical "IN"novation, as it has been our principleto provide the best products supported by our state of the art technology since we started our business. "

makes NO sense at all to say TEE IN if it comes from technical innovation

that's true that 'technical' and 'innovation' are english words, but 'tein' is not an english word. it's a japanese-style acronym, which uses the first sounds from each word.

another example could be, say, 'bike pedal.'made into a japanese-style acronym like tein, this would be 'baipe'if you apply english rules to the word baipe, it rhymes with cape, rape, tape, etcbut in fact it should be Bye Peh

there is no fault in pronouncing it any way you want. If you are gonna spell it with 2 capital letters, you're going to confuse people. Kinda like Apex'i. what the hell is an apostrophe and an "I" doing IN the word anyway...

I believe it stands for Apex International

wow. just go get wrench and put the damn parts on your car. the only sound that matters is the one that comes out the back of the car. or the bov if you have one.
