the 240 i just bought had some rust spots inside the hatch when i gutted it..

i went over to it and just used rust-oleum metallic silver spray paint.. but i dont exactly know why i did that..

anyways, how can i get rid of rust and prevent it from rusting back? any help would be nice, i read in some posts (after searching) that..you sand the area down of any rust, rust protector (whats this?), bondo (?), primer(?), then.. paint i believe it said.. but..

id ont know what half of those things are.. i only know them by their names and sanding wont sand through the metal would it?

thanks!

sand it and then use that rust eater or whatever its called. there are many brands. you may have to weld in some new sheet metal if you sand clean through. maybe bondo if you really want it. its just body filler that fills in uneveness for painting. it doesnt do anything but help the paint look better. primer. paint sticks to primer. paint. of course you sand with fine sandpaper lightly between every step.

not with out primer. You can paint any part of the car inside or out. But you need to go through a process to make the paint adhere and protest the surface. Also if you sand far enough that you go through the coating on the metal designed to prevent rust you should reapply some metal prep prior to applying primer. I am no paint expert though as I dont have good technique so my paint work is low quality..lol When you go to buy this stuff just ask for it as you have called it here, all those products are pretty much sold under those names.
