im guessing u have ur bov vented to the atmosphere,in that case u can ricirculate it back into the intake.or just learn to deal with it.

Like they said.

1. Re-cerc your BOV.2. Tune your fuel curve. (so you're not running rich)also3. Run a cat. Strait pipes will allow flame outs (back fires).4. Don't run too cold of a spark plug. (contributes to excess fuel out the exhaust).

Recirculating means reroute another vacuum line back into the intake? Is this correct? Please correct me please.....thanks

People need to understand if your going to be runing High hp levels, high boost, 3 inch exhaust your GOING to get back fire, yes you can compinsate by puting a cat on tuning your fuel to make it leaner, but your STILL going to have backfiring!!! It wont be as bad,but it will still be there so your just going to have to learn to deal with it.

I kinda like the sound of backfiring on my friends sr. but nick is right just about any car with a free flowing exhaust is going to backfire

a wideband o2 with an a/f ratio gauge, EGT gauge, sparkplugs are all good ways to tell. sparkplugs are obviously the cheap way, just pull them and generally white means lean and black means rich. the wideband o2 and a/f would be most expensive but pretty accurate. the EGT you just go by how hot or cold it is. when you start leaning out the temp will rise when your running rich itll be cooler.

Another quick way to tell is the car will run roughly and not idle very well. And leaner it will run more smooth and idel very well. Why do you think those big block musle cars sound the way they do and idel the way they do, its because they are running pig rich!

700-800 rpm

I have a catalitic converter and I've been dyno tuned twice, I still get backfiring.

**Also, if your going to buy the A/F gauge be aware that it is almost pointless without the wideband kit. It is otherwise known as a disco light.

yes, which is why id reccommend an egt gauge over an a/f. unless you plan on doing alot of tuning then you really shouldnt spend $400 or so just to see if your running rich or lean.

Yea i second the egt over the a/f. I screwed up and bought my gauges before the swap...before I knew what I really needed. So I still need my egt gauge

A wideband O2 sensor with a a/f gauge is much more definitive than a EGT gauge (at a larger price). Some people use both for tuning.

the backfiring doesnt hurt anything though, correct? cause i kinda like it, plus when i get my new exhaust it will prolly shoot flames, which i think is pretty bad a$$. as long as it doesnt do any damage to the engine....

Other then melting your back bumper over time it wont do anything harmfull. And if your running a cat then you will probaly have to replace that sooner then you would noremaly have to.

revent the bov and you should aight. ecu is dumping more fuel because the air after being blown off is suppose to go back into the intake. when it's vented out to the atmosphere, there's not enough air to compensate the fuel being dumped into the motor.
