this should be easy for most,

was going to do it myself, after borrowing the tools/gauges from a friend, read up on KA compression test as follows:

1. Warm up engine.2. Turn ignition switch off.3. Release fuel pressure (See How to Change Fuel Filter)4. Remove all spark plugs.5. Disconnect distributor center cable.6. Attach a compression tester to No. 1 cylinder.7. Depress accelerator pedal fully to keep throttle valve wide open.8. Crank engine and record highest gauge indication.9. Repeat the measurement on each cylinder as shown above.

So, for the SR, everything is the same except for step 5, do I just unplug the coilpacks (all of them and like step 4, remove all spark plugs), or do I need to unplug something else too??

And as far as leakdown test goes, how does that work, all I know the gauge needs an air compressor, but is there some step by step instructions?

Thanks

yes instead of disconnecting the distributor center cable you would just disconnect all four coilpacks.

Take out all four spark plugs and all four coilpacks. Then test each cylinder.

And also another way of releasing fuel pressure is to take out your fuel pump fuse and crank the engine. just another way
