how to paint center panel

did a search couldnt find anything so im just wondering how to do it, and if possible can anyone put it in steps?thank you very much

im guessing u mean part of the interior? i did mine with vynal (sp?) color from pep boys. i wiped down the peice in rubbing alcohol and also lightly sanded them with fine grit paper. not sure if thats nessaccary tho. jsut spray from a distance is light coast so it doesnt drip

ooo he means the part of the tail light? yea get a body shop to paint that if thats what u mean

Scuff it down with sandpaper, nice and rough. So the smooth plastic finish is gone.

Spray with a primer, let dry.

Spray with body-mathcing paint - couple of coats and let dry for quite a bit.

Add a few coats of thin clearcoat....if you go with heavy coats it will look like crap.

Did this on my gf's 99 saturn sc2 and it came out awesome. She always hated the large left to right rear light reflector bar.

Do you have the usdm taillights?? If so, don't do it...it looks cheap...

I've seen it when the center panel is painted black, which looks decent...otherwise....noooo...

does anyone have any pics of it? with the usdm taillights, im probly gonna end up gettin the clearcorners.com tailights(180sx ones) but until then, i was thinking about gettin that center piece painted, im getting ready to have my car painted so it will all match perfectly..any pics anybody?

It doesn't look good, IMO...when look at it painted, it's so obvious it was not meant to be painted....cheapens the look of the car...alot of eclipse owners do that...Now it looks much better on the 180sx kouki lights...

I only said you couldn't do it because I didn't want everyone to go and do it. It looks good, at least on champagne pearl. Body shop did mine for 60 bucks after I took it off myself. Pics on homepage.

i met the clearcorners.com guy...he gave me a ride in his canyon car...he is cool as all hell. I want the 1/2 red 1/2 white tail lights for the fastaback that he offers.... those would look real nice... mmmmmmm tail lights.... mmmmmmmmmm.....

so that sticker(?) that says rps13 goes on the outside too huh. i never seen the inside, well the center panel from the inside. get it. eeeehh whatever. well know i know. yeahimma do the 180sx lights eventually. unles those taikara lights loo ok ON the car? since i havent seen any cars with them on. eh, o well.peace
