What are some ways to tell your turbo is going bad?

okay really, when you notice weird notice, the blades rubbing against the housing or if you see oil coming out from the wrong places

Unless the turbo is REALLY REALLY bad, it will still boost. The first time I noticed that my turbo was going bad was when it wouldnt boost as much as it used to. I had my boost controller set so my stock turbo would boost and hold about .95bar of boost, but after a drift event I noticed that the car would only boost around .85bar on the same setting. Also, on the way back from that event, my friend driving behind me told me that he started seeing small puffs of white smoke when I was idling (turbo seals starting to go).

Oh yeah, in some cases you dont see any signs, Ive had a friends car that was 100 percent fine until the turbo just completely blew up during an event and his car was spewing white smoke everywhere

Ya i have white smoke every once in awhile coming out of my exhaust when im at idle. Could the white smoke be anything else? and its possible to just buy new turbo seals right? i have the t25

did you check for shaft play?
