I have been toying with the idea of trading in the AC for a G37 Coupe with MT. Mostly I am not happy with the CVT after 7000 miles. This was my first auto transmission car and I am not happy, not even the SF traffic makes up for it(which was the whole reason for buying the CVT).Would it be better trade in now or once the trade in value is known?

well... think about it - the car depreciates as time goes by so by that logic, the sooner you trade it in the better. I'd get a used g35 6mt those things are sick, and won't kill your wallet either. you can expect to pay 40k+ on a pretty basic g37 right now

I got ripped off on my AC as well. At the time I sold my motorcycle and was buying a car due to being very sick. I wasn't all there when negotiating the contract and paid 32k (all fees) for a base 3.5SE CVT. If I had only bought the MT...but using the clutch was too much effort back then.

Why does everyone bash the CVT? For a daily, it's a blessing!

For a project car, or a track car, I can understand. But manual is just a ***** for daily driving.

yah my base 2.5 cvt was something something like 30k including taxes and those whoknowswhatthehell feesoh canada....

but the hassel of importing up is not really worth it, in my opinion... ... after all the other taxes and import taxes and going down there and driving back, paying for gas and hotels if you live quite a distance away, and taking time off work and this and that and a zillion papers to fill out and gathering cash to pay and any mods required to pass the inspections which in turn cost more money... it is pretty much even in the end. plus trying to get warranty coverage can be a pain in the bum.In some cases it could be worth it... but meh... Ive been through more than enough importing hell this year

There's no way trade-in value will be decent until a) the A/C is more well-known or b) there is a shortage or c) your color is hard to get.

And there's no current shortage of Nissans out there to buy.

Think about it: Why buy used when you can buy brand new at your dealer for a few thou more?

Don't hate me everybody, I paid $18,250 for my cvt 2.5. I bought one of the demonstrators, Nissan drove it into a few buildings for unveiling, then put the base options in and sold it. Otherwise I was going to buy a used 350z. So I lucked out. Only downside is it was one of the first ones off the assembly line, and won't be as refined as the 09's.

Actually...I really enjoy driving my 6mt. I find driving a manual transmission to be more engaging than driving the cvt. Whenever I get back into an automatic car I feel bored!

3.5 with premium package, tech package, VDC = 28kTax etc, 7 year / 100,000 mile warranty = 4k

Total for everything = 32k

Theres no real baseline on the AC to set trade in from right now. That said, according to manheim the V6 ACs are going for anywhere from 19000-24000 at the auction blocks. Depends on where you are and the options on the car. Highest one being just over 25000. So that may help you get the best out of your trade with them, if you know what they can ACTUALLY turn the car for if they have to resort to an auction sale or wholesale to another dealer

For you 2.5 guys looking for the same info, the S cars are going for anywhere from 18500 up to 21000

(according to these the AC is holding value MUCH better than the sedan whose 2.5 version is going from 15-17k)

All that said.. I sell used cars occasionally where I work, and was in the hunt looking for a used G35 when I came across the AC.. brand new 10yr 120k mile warranty.. 20,850 base 2.5S CVT with mats and kick plates.. mostly jumped on it due to the fact that it was during school semester and i needed a car.. sad part is I was telling the main sales guy where the cars were runing through that I wanted and how much I was going to spend.. but he wouldnt go pick one up for me -.- .. and of course I cant be at morning auctions with classes bleh... Oh well love my choice! hah!

Good luck with the trade if you go through with it BTW!

That's exactly what I paid for my 3.5SE CVT w/ Prem. & Tech. Pkgs. as well Marlin (36,995 to be exact). After dealer installed lojack, and the warranty came to $32k.

You paid $32K.

Enjoy your A/C.

2k for a warranty?.. wow, that really is a beatdown, I probably couldve gotten you the same warranty through gaurdian for about 1200 lol. Aside from that, the dealership I got mine from gives a "free" 10yr 120k mi warranty.. free being that they include it in the value of the car and have less room to come off of it lol, still Im more than happy to know that my car is covered for that long! (probably prevented me from knocing off maybe another 1000 *shrug* worth it really)
