For $10. Accually only $1 cause you have enough material to make 10 boots.

Thanks to a few people on this forum, my interior feels a little bland to me. So I decided to make some alterations starting with the shift boot.

I went to walmart's fabric section and picked out a fabric. It's called "Fashion nubuck" and I chose dark red. A yard (36"X~48") and a spool of black thread cost me just over $10 after tax. I just used my sisters sewing machine for assembly.

I trust you know how to remove the boot from vehicle so I wont go there.

Once boot is out,

Be sure to trim off most excess material from inside unstitched area for a better fitment.

I just love making things for my car. Next to come is the center arm rest....

Thanks for lookin'

Nice, looks good. Not really my personal choice of fabric though.

yeah, they had a dark red suede, I should have gone with that. It's cheep enough so I can always get a yard of it and make one. We'll see how it holds up. It's kinda thin and a little stretchy but I'm satisfied.

That would probably look pretty cool. I've been wanting to make my own but I know its going to be hard to find a fabric I'll like and I want it to be thick.

Thnks for the much needed help, I just bought my 1st 240 about 3 weeks ago. The exterior is in good condition and over all for the year the interior is too. But I've come to find out, one of the 1st things to become worn is the shift boot. I decided to look on the internet for one but priced it at around 40 to 60 dollars. Its pretty cool to be able to make one for as cheep as ten bucks. And you deffinetly didn't sacrifice any of the look doing it your self.So great idea,Deffinetly a way to save a few bucks. Ill have to see how mine come outs

Yeah, thicker would be better. The original boot looks like denim on the back. It's about twice as thick as the new boot.

I was thinking today about the rest of the interior. Sence my car is red and will be repainting it a darker red, I will do some of that dark red suede. Cover the "A" pillars, door inserts, rear quarter inserts, sun roof cover, glove box and center arm rest in the red suede, and cover the head liner in a black suede. That and some dark tint would be sweet IMHO. I'll make "How to's" along the way for yall.
