All power steerings are belt driven. I had a similiar problem in a Chrysler I owned some years ago. The steering was loose and uncommuncative. Replacing the belt made by steering more responsive. Made the car fun again!.
However before you go ahead and change your power steering belt inspect the components of your steering system/front suspension components (i.e. condition of control arms, tension rods etc). They wear with age, faster with road salt. Sometimes changing those can make a huge difference.
