I have a 97 maxima. I'm not sure if it has ABS option. At start I get a brief ABS (yellow) dash light among other lights. Is it proof enough that the vehicle is equipped with ABS? Where are the sensors located and how ti identify them? Appreciate an answer

Well one way to tell is jam your brakes on in some snow...you'll feel the brakes pulsate.

At least on my car...if mine had ABS I would have a unit on my passenger side fender IIRC.

It would be just a black unit with 4 brake lines running to it.

Your best be would be to look under the hood for a black box type thing with brake line running out of it.

best and easiest way is to get some speed and slam the brakes. that should give you a definite answer.

If you have the ABS light, you should have ABS. Without ABS, the spot for the light would still be there, but it wouldn't illuminate.

If you want to double-check, though, you can look for the ABS actuator under the hood.

In case the image isn't clear, it's just inside the driver side strut housing. It has vacuum lines coming out the front and top.

. Thanks a lot. I was reading the steps to replace CV axle. One of the steps was to temporarily disconnect the ABS sensor and that prompted my Q about the ABS.

Slam those brakes and hold on tight
