The idiocy is far-reaching, I won't bore you with all of it here. Basically, he and his wife blew it all. They have a long list of people to blame for it too, their's seem to be way down on the bottom.

All it takes is one phone call to a financial planner, rather than a trip to the exotic car store.

Trying to keep up with the Jones's will put you in the poorhouse with a quickness. And for nothing.

No, it's a curse of stupid. Normal people wouldn't do this.

That's the problem. It seems like normal people do exactly that.

I sit here and say that I would not go out and blow the money if I won, but I wonder if I could really restrain myself completely. That'd be a powerful temptation, for the best of people.

I'd like to altruistically volunteer and prove if I am given $10,000,000, that I could restrain myself from blowing it. :dblthumb:

I'd be happy with just a simple house of my own with a garage, somewhere else other then here... preferably further south.

That could be had for less then .5% of what they blew! And I know I'd have to keep a job to remain sane. Maybe that was the problem?

I read the article a few hours ago.... I have ZERO sympathy for these people, ZERO! Two houses, one in the UK, a $173,000 horse? Are you kidding me? I could live well with that lump sum for the rest of my life.

:rotfl that was set up perfectly.

I know if I had $10 million, of course I would burn a little bit of it on a decent house and a few decent cars, hopefully around $1.5 million spent on that. I would spend comfortably after that and I would force myself to restrain myself. What most people overlook is mortgage price, taxes, expensive monthly insurance for cars, health, and home, etc, as the guy saw. It can add up quick.

Just because I have the money, there is still no way that I would buy the stupid stuff he did or a $5,000 steak or a $50,000 suit  F*** that. Theres no dish or clothing worth that amount. I do know sure as s**t that I would NOT be working!!

Besideds now a days $10 mil is not THAT much money. Now, if it was like $300 million, that's a different story. :woot:

I can't even grasp the idea of having that much money. Talk about disposable income.

$300 million would buy a lot of classic Datsuns. ;)

We aren't quite there yet but I can't wait to get started on her, gonna be a fun project.
First, we have to finish up Bella, the '72 240Z. She has kind of been our "project-in-progress" for what seems like forever. We hope to get her finished up over Christmas break. I will be out of school for a month, that should give me the time I need to help Greg get the job finished. I can't wait to finally turn some bolts on this car. So far, it has been all Greg and Jason (rotorimp).

What a moron. People fail to realize how easy it is to piss through money. "Millions" doesn't mean very much anymore. If I were to get such a winfall, I'd maybe spend a small chunk right away on some things I've had in the "always wanted" category, but the vast majority of it would go into an annuity structured to last a nice long time.

The worst part is supposedly otherwise intelligent people pull this crap all the time. I think the main problem is when you have that much money you stop looking at or caring about individual purposes. Each purchase is just a drop in a pond. Well, it doesn't take very long for rain to raise the level of a pond, and neither does it take long to drain a bank account when you stop paying attention to it.
