The rear wiper blade (insert, NOT the entire arm assembly) should come with instructions. I know mine did when I changed it a couple years ago. The insert back then was about $18 from the dealer, but I'm pretty sure you can buy cheaper, aftermarket ones now. Aftermarket ones should come with instructions too.

Taking the arm assembly off the car might be a tad tough the first time. Once you remove the single nut holding it on, most of us have found the arm to be a very tight fit. Just persevere, however, and it WILL come off. The blade insert is a little tricky (not straight forward like most other wiper blades, that's why it helps to have the instructions that come with it), but once you do it the first time you'll see it is really only a couple minute job. Definitely don't pay someone to do this for you.

Ooops, I just noticed your car is an 09 - mine is an 04. The procedure may or may not be the same. And, aftermarket blades for the 09 might not be available yet. You sure your blade needs to be changed? I got almost 4 years out of my original one.

Hey thanks for the reply..Not the whole arm of my windshield but the blade and the frame is. I was able to take it out after I bought the factory wipers piece but I couldnt put it the new one on or even try to put the old one back on..I dont know why Nissan have to make this exclusively a "Nissan Product" only and even installing you must bring it in for service..

I cheated. Once I looked at the instructions I gave up and just changed the insert.

The front wipers, which are going to wear out way quicker than the rear blade, are a standard design and can be bought anywhere. The rear wiper blade attaches in a somewhat unorthodox way - thus the need to buy the blade insert from the dealer. Since the rear blade is something most people (like me) replace very rarely, the relatively high ($20) cost and need to get it at a dealer isn't a big deal.

As for the actual replacing, there is NO need to go to the dealer. Just follow the instructions that come with the insert. It's really very simple, especially after you do it the first time.

I have heard of people being totally confused by the instructions and/or who couldn't remove the single nut holding the rear wiper assembly on the car. I think one of them actually figured out how to just replace the rubber part of the insert without taking anything off the car.

Maybe someone else who has found a replacement rear blade from someplace other than the dealer, or has figured out another way to replace it could chime in.

Hey there fellas,

I spend most of my time on the Infiniti side of the fence but I know the easiest way to replace the rear wipers on the FX is to remove the arm. It's pretty easy, I'll take some pics if y'all need em but the cover comes off by gently pulling away until you feel the release. Once the cover is off you will see the 10mm nut. Make a mental note of where the superficial line is on the rear window to make alignment much easier.

Replacing the blade assembly is the best way to go. It really only needs to be replaced every few years so the ~$20 wiper isn't too painful.

My Nissan Murano 09 has 24,000 mileage, What kinda maintenance should my car have other than oil change?..I have an appointment with the dealership and I'm afraid they might trick me of saying that I need this or that done and cost me 500-600 bucks for maintenance fee..Any tips or advice guys?

At 24k there is not very much you should need done going off the maintenance schedule.

Since we had a pretty rough winter my opinion is that everyone should have a spring time alignment and tire balance, while they're at it rotate them.

Its been said above, but yes you have to take off the rear arm which is a little tricky but definitely can be done. If you want to replace the entire blade (which I do), the Trico Exact Fit Rear Integral Blade is the special blade that snaps right onto the special rear arm and looks like the original. You may want to try the Trico NeoForm Beam Blades on the front too which snap right onto the front arms. (this is my set-up) The NeoForms are EXCELLENT wipers - clean great and quiet. The Exact Fit Rear does the trick too. Got them online.

Does anyone (maybe Steve?) know if there is a small puller available, or possibly even tried to use one, to pop the rear blade assembly off? I have one for changing electric RC car motor gears, but it is too small for this use.

I tried to get the rear blade off my daughter's Quest recently, and ran into the same problem I had the first time I took my Mo's blade off. The splines are so tight the blade is VERY tough to get off. I actually gave up on the Quest. That's when I again longed for a puller to do the job - something I had thought of years ago before the Mo blade finally popped off.

I needed to change my 2005 Murano rear wiper and discovered how to do it.
The cover at the base can be popped off with your fingers.
Remove the 10 mm nut.
The wiper assembly comes off by 'unscrewing' it counter clockwise. After two or three revolutions it is off.
The rear blade replaces similar to the windshield blades. Put the blade on and reassemble.
The wiper assemble will screw back in by rotating it clockwise two or three revolutions. After two or three revs it does not appear to tighten any further.
Set the blade assembly at the bottom position, remount the nut and pop the cover back on.
Hope this works as well for you as it did for me. I was getting worried I was going to have to go to the dealer.
