I just added this maybe a month ago. I'm assuming this is the "bolt-on" type that go right over the plastic grill?
First off, find an 8-year-old with incredibly long, slender, rubber arms, then......
I found this to be a pain. Lucky for me I already have a CAI so the driver's corner was empty of all the foam body blocks. This side went together pretty well, but some of those reaches are tough; especially with those tiny bolts. The passenger side was, basically, impossible so I just installed the one bolt closest to the plate and then resorted to running a long black buggle head dry wall screw through the grill's hole and into the backing foam block. Yeah, it's cheating, but it's not at all noticable and I could see of no other practical way to do it. I sure as hell wasn't going to take out THAT foam block too just for the grill (that's a fair bit of work in and of itself).
So, if you don't have a CAI, you will have both sides to contend with.... I'd lean on the side of running the screw into the foam AFTER YOU INSTALL 1 BOLT ON EACH SIDE AND YOU HAVE THE GRILLS EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT THEM.
