I just added this maybe a month ago. I'm assuming this is the "bolt-on" type that go right over the plastic grill?

First off, find an 8-year-old with incredibly long, slender, rubber arms, then......

I found this to be a pain. Lucky for me I already have a CAI so the driver's corner was empty of all the foam body blocks. This side went together pretty well, but some of those reaches are tough; especially with those tiny bolts. The passenger side was, basically, impossible so I just installed the one bolt closest to the plate and then resorted to running a long black buggle head dry wall screw through the grill's hole and into the backing foam block. Yeah, it's cheating, but it's not at all noticable and I could see of no other practical way to do it. I sure as hell wasn't going to take out THAT foam block too just for the grill (that's a fair bit of work in and of itself).

So, if you don't have a CAI, you will have both sides to contend with.... I'd lean on the side of running the screw into the foam AFTER YOU INSTALL 1 BOLT ON EACH SIDE AND YOU HAVE THE GRILLS EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT THEM.

...but of course it goes w/o saying that I didn't want to remove the lower motor shield and simply went in from the top by the radiator.

Which one did you choose? I decided against changing the grill because I don't like most of the ones I see in the aftermarket. I like the stock upper grille - so I would like to see lower grills that mimic the upper grill (exact same issue with my 20002 Dodge Ram Sport that comes with factory billet upper grill) .

Even if that means you only get 2-3 horizontal bars - i don't like the look of 7 or more bars and what must be 10 or more bars in the upper. I did see a set of bumper inserts with circular holes that looked cool.

Good Luck!!

Yeah, mine is the "multiple bar" grill. Just got something cheap off ebay since my OEM was busted and I wanted to try this one out. I also liked the fact that nothing was a permanent alteration so I can always go back to factory if I wanted.I guess I like it fine and I DO like the fact that it's unique looking as well as making people wonder "what is that?" since the Infiniti logo is missing up front.(will attempt to link to my geocities site.... if the image doesn't display, I'll upload to this site)

CAI = cold air intake. Installing mine required me to relocate the air filter way down in front of the driver's-side lower grill.... which had been filled with all sorts of funky foam doo-dads. Taking these out, it's very evident that this car had been intented to allow for the CAI mod since it's CAVERNOUS down there!

My lower grill inserts seem to be just a litle bit longer than yours in the picture. I took off the lower plastic engine shield that attatches to the bumper.....its a pain, then realized the screws that came w/ the grill inserts are a tad short. So...i am goint to my local bolt & supply shop tomorrow and getting some longer bolts. i found out that the billet grill inserts are just placed on top of the existing factory plastic grill's. If I have time I will post before and after pics when done.
