Dear Friends,

I am looking to install blue neon lights under my seats or dash into my 2005 Nissan 350z. I don't want my car to look tacky, but I do like the blue neon glow in the interior of a sports car.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with the install? As far as I understand, installation can be done to the fuse box or directly to the car battery? Apparently, connecting to the battery is a safer bet? Also, does anyone know if this type of procedure would void/effect the nissan factory warranty? Lastly, are interior neor lights illegal in some states? Brett

First off, and this is my opinion of course, "don't want my car to look tacky" and "neon" don't belong in the same sentence together.

On to your question about warranty: They can only refuse to service parts under warranty if they can prove, without a doubt, that the part failed due to the modding you applied. So, no, it doesn't just "void" your entire warranty.

As for wiring, I'm not sure, but I figured I'd address your warranty concerns.

Hey Man,

Your probably right that the neon could look tacky. I'll probably just buy one of the neon tubes that attach to the cigarette lighter in the back and see if it looks good. I put in blue map lights, and they don't look tacky at all..

I am pretty sure as long as the bulb is not visible from the outside of the car (red/blue are emergency vehicle lights) then you are good. Its ok for the inside of your car to be lit up any color you want, but make sure you cannot see the actual bulb from the outside of the vehicle. Ya dig!

As far as tacky, if your looking for a glow on your pedals and kick panel, i don't personally like it for my theme, but as long as you don't have wires hanging out and it doesn't strobe it should look pretty clean. Make sure you fuse the line you run if you run straight from the battery. If it grounds with no fuse, could cause a FIRE. 2 of my friends opted out on a fuse, they learned the hard way.

I'm a person that's into glow, so I guess I like tacky. Streetglow makes leds strips that are vey flat and about 1/2 in wide . About 7 colors. They can be mounted just about anywhere. If done right they would be stealth until turned on. Sounds like you are a little nervous about what people think about your mods.
