First off... Do you have a wideband 02?

You need a wideband o2 sensor for the hole point of a A/F gauge. If not itll just bounce around and make a pretty light show

Throw it in the trash. It will not really do anything for tuning to show you the actual A/F ratio. Your stock o2 does not give a precise reading. You need an actual wideband o2 so as an AEM UEGO. This comes with a seperate o2 sensor that is much more sensitive. You need to get a bung welded into your exhaust and then run the wiring into the car to the included o2 gauge.

If there are 3 wires (black, purple, red or white).Black is groundpurple is 02 signalred or white is 12v power on ignition switch. I have the narrow band Autometer phantom in my dd s13. Some times you can get interference in the signal wire to. That could be the problem. Sounds like you haven't got the signal on the on wire correctly.PeterP.S. What colour are the wires? Where are you trying to get the reading from? (ECU or at the sensor?)

All that gage does is tell you when your A/F ratio is around 14.7. Thats how a stock O2 sensor works, it gives three readings. Either its dead on 14.7, or its richer/leaner than that number.

That makes those gages completly worthless for tuning. Its not even worth the time to install it because its sooo pointless.

He owns it and plans to instal it. Its his project and he can do what he feels no matter what the task of the component is. Its not gonna hurt. You don't have to look at it! That being said you can answer the question respectfuly and help a fellow tuner or not at all. He is asking for help, not your opinion of the product. He mentioned he is fine with it doing a dance. He doesn't care!Peter

Thank you for that... I am trying to hook it up on here....... it has purple, red, and black wires coming from the A/F gauge ... i tried the black to ground and the red to my radio fuse near the pedals but when i hook up the purple one to the white wire where the arrow is pointing to it turns dim red and when i disconnect it it turns bright green....

I can't remember on mine what colour the ecu wire was but thats where I put mine so it didn't pick up interference in the engine bay. I will look into the colour for you this evening after work in my car, or you can go to a local garage and get a wiring diagram or ecu pinout.Peter

Middle wire on the o2 sensor plug is the signal wire you need to tap in to. If you have a red top, with the skinny o2 (stock red top o2) it WILL NOT WORK. if you get a fat o2, the gauge will work but the #62 and #63 ecus don't read fat o2 sensors. The only way to have a narrow band gauge work and the ecu to read correctly is if you have an e5 ecu.
