Not very wiring knowledge inclined but IRecently got a pyle head unit into my 98 maxima SE. I want to hook an xbox 360 up to it and was told I just need to get a converter running on 12v, that will accept a wall power cable from my xbox.as well as a cable coming from the head unit that allows the xbox auxillary cables to plug into to feed the video/sound to the in dash screen. Does anyone have any idea on how to set this up, I can get all necessary components but need help on how to wire it and such and what goes where.Any input is greatly appreciated.

What type of inputs does your headunit have?

If it's just normal RCA inputs (the red, yellow, and white composite cables, which is the most likely case), all you need is the original Xbox RCA cable used to connect to a TV.

As for power, you just need to get an inverter. A 350 watt inverter is a good choice. The next question there is how discrete you're looking to make the install. You can buy inverters that simply use a cigarette lighter, or you can get stealthier ones that you can wire straight into your 12v system.

The thing is that i bought the head unit from a friend, which came with a wiring harness. There are two slots for a wiring harness on the back, I recieved the one for audio which plugs into one side of the head unit and connects with all the audio wires and such. The other slot is open for another wiring harness, which is meant for a wiring harness to connect to RCA cables from the back. The head unit does not have basic plug in RCA cable slots, that would be great but it doesnt. What i want to do, is buy length of wire and run it from the battery to the inverter, put a switch on it, and run it to the ground. That way I dont have to buy an inverter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and looks tacky. Got the wiring all set up down. All i need is a wiring harness to plug into 2nd slot on the back of the head unit and plug in the RCA cables and Im ready to go. Any ideas on where to find such a wiring harness??? i've looked everywhere and cant find one....

Something that I learned the hard way is that the cig lighter can only put off a minimal abount of wattage before the fuse blows. There are many high power converters but they only work off a direct battery connections at full power. Some cars have a high wattage power outlet though but not the max.

XBox 360 demands a high amount of power.

LOL, just looked at my power brick and the 360 outputs DC 203 watts and 12 volts @ 16.5 amps & 5 volts @ 1a. Good luck. Yeah, they will have to run a separate power line directly from the battery just to power the inverter that you get.

Yeah, definitely better to go straight to the battery and run an inline fuse.Xbox 360 power usage varies quite a bit depending on which variant you have. Early ones have the 203 watt power supply, but newer ones have dropped to 150 watt.
