Has anyone tried this? I know some electrical devices can handle the polarity switched, others have a zener diode that will pop and have to be replaced.

Any Help Would Be Appreciated.

Hey Anthony, I just hard-wired my Bel RX-65 Pro with the optional smart plug (mute function and LED indicator light) as well as the external speaker (needed power as well). While I was at it, I hardwired my GPS unit, so it is possible to do and everything works perfectly.

The bad news is that I only helped the guy and didn't tap into the wires myself (could have done it myself, but the guy owed me a favor, so I let him give me a hand.)

We used a test light to tap into a thicker wire going into the fuse box for the gps and a thinner one going into the fuse box for the other stuff. Just make sure that whatever wires you tap into turn off when the ignition turns off. Everything was grounded to a central ground around the fuse box also.

Let me know if you need the instructions in greater detail or if you just wanted to know it was possible. Good Luck
