Well, my car just shut off in middriving tonight, and it turned out to be the fuel relay going bad (or something in the wiring there). I just hard wired the power line from the pump directly to the battery for now, with a connector to unplug it when the car is off. I know it's ghetto, but it's hard working in the cold dark!

Question is, what would be the best way to hardwire the pump in? I was thinking link it to an on/off switch with a fuse inline to the battery, would that be okay? What size of fuse should I use? I tried wiring the power line to my stereo power line, cause I figured it's always on. But it didn't seem to have enough juice....I'd have to turn it over forever to get it to start....and I don't want to go lean at all. Any problems with hardwiring it to the battery and bypassing all the switches and crap? Thanks!

I'm kinda in the same boat. i've got walbro 255 in right now and according to Enthaply I need to rewire my fuel pump to get more volts out of it. I thought that wiring to the batter is where it should go but i've seen putting in a relay box too.

Well, mine was on a relay, but something in the relay or wiring screwed up. So I figured you'd might as well bypass it and just go straight to the battery. I'm thinking with a 15 or 20amp fuse inline as well to protect it. We'll probably wire it to an on/off switch and hide it to act as a theft deterant.

I'm just wondering if that will be a high enough amperage fuse or not? Anybody got any imput? Thanks!

If you want a switch:

Get a 30 amp relay

Run a power wire from the battery to the one post of the relay

Run another wire from the relay to the power on the pump

Solder into the fuel pump wire from your ECU. This is a GROUND.

Lastly, wire power from your switch into the other post.

I skiped the switch idea and just used the same power from the battery as my 'switch' power.
