how to get the head off

what all bolts do u need to take off to get the head i know the head bolts i have my fmic piping off hot and cold down pipe off too what all is left help me i need to get this head off and it does not help its in the car :mad:

Umm alot more than intercooler piping.Get a copy of a FSM, it will help you ALOT especially with something like this.

i cant see any bolts holding it on i can move it some i dont know whats holding in place

Ahh, I understood that al you had off was the IC piping.

There are 4 other bolts that hold the head on, 2 gold ones on the inside of the head on either side of the upper chain guide and 2 on the outside of the head I believe on the exhaust side (one at the front, one at the back)

ok got all of them its moving more but still wont come off

Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, valve cover, cams, head bolts (10 of them), and the tubes on the back of the head are all off right? If they are you should be able to lift it off.

tubes on the back of the head i gess i am going to have to take the manifolds off i did not want to. back off to working on it

The intake manifold is connected further down by brackets to the block. The turbo manifold is well connected to the turbo and dp. Get those out of the way and it'll make for an easier time with the head unless you've got a stud extractor and can pull those studs out in which case the head will just lift up without being held down by the manifolds.

so thats whats holding it on is the bracket were is it in the front or the back of the intake

It's been a while since I've seen my sr totally assembled but I think it's near the front, and for some reason the alternator comes to mind when I think of that bracket. I think it might be bolting in around there. It should be two parts, and the two parts should look something like a "7".
