As the title states... How would I go about removing the battery tray? It is spot welded to the inner fender lining and does not want to budge. I can see two ways of doing this, but I'm open to suggestions. One: drilling through all spot welds. Two: cutting it out with a cut-off wheel. Are there any other easier ways of removing this PITA? Oh, and I am posting this in both the General section, as well as, the Tech section to stimulate more answers.

If you drill out the spot welds, make sure you cover the exposed metal of the body/frame straight away with anti rust paint, or some other sealant.

Is there enough room to work with a grinder w/cut-off wheel in there?

If it were me, I'd drill it out

You may want to try a dremel with a cut wheel. It is much smaller than a regular cut wheel and will do less damage.

ETA: Sorry, too damn early. I just re-read and saw the spot weld comments. Agree with above, about the only way is to drill them out.
