you also need a duck call with the duck tape. use them together. attract ducks.

or recirculate it

not running a bov is a good way to destroy your compressor wheel. compressor shock is not a good thing. +1 for recirculate.

I have an SSQV and there are two ways to get rid of the whistle.

The way I did it was to just buy the purple insert. Its like 25 buck on eBay. You remove the metal shroud over the BOV, remove the silver insert, and put in the purple one. The BOV won't whistle anymore. It'll make more of a "POW" sound, but it is MUCH quieter and I didn't like it to be so quiet, so I put the silver whistle insert back in. I think I might try the purple insert again once I'm running 16-18psi though. Maybe it'll be a bit louder.

The other way you could do it for free, is to just remove the silver insert altogether, and not replace the insert. I have no idea how it'd sound though.

the majority of cars i see in japanese videos have that fluttering sound and i've been trying to find the source of that...i know compressor surge makes a similar sound but i hope that's the not the only way to make it...

sard r2d2? hmmm...all the clips sound like a huge burst of air rather than the fluttering sound i'm after...

by the way, i never removed or disconnected the stock bov...could this be causing me any problems?

It wouldn't cause any severe problems, but it's pretty pointless on a stock SR...

Are you serious?

I think the insert you use to recirc a SSQV will take away the whistle. I'm not sure though. Also I think most the cars in the video use the racing SSQV which doesn't make a whistle I dont think

Im not trying to get under any ones skin here, but BOV's dont really serve much purpose on smaller turbos (t25/28). Research it. Don't just go by what your friends are telling you or what you read on some forum. I came across an article a while back from a major company, sorry forgot who. They had a good long write up about how BOVS are pretty much usless except to make cool sounds.

Um. I ran my fresh swap without a BOV because I couldn't afford it, and I destroyed a perfectly healthy T25 within 5 or 6 weeks. There was no shaft play when the motor was sitting on my friend's bench, and it was spewing oil smoke in 6 weeks.

BOV's are only useless when increases in pressure ratios caused by throttle closing (throttle closings cause high pressure ratios at low compressor flow rates) do not put you behind the compressor's surge limit. Large diesel turbines posses this quality, and that's why many large Diesel trucks do not use blowoff valves, even though they have huge compressors and run crazy boost pressures of 40+psi.

if you guys are talking about the noise im tihnking of, like loud *** squeek noise, then its from having massive boost pressure on any bov. theres so much pressure that it literaly wants to explode out rather just pchhhhh. find a video of what ur talkinga bout.
