I have a 91 240sx with Hicas and I want to know how I can get rid of it. I have an SR20 in it but I didn't put in the power steering pump for the HICAS. There is power steering, but only in the front wheels. Since there is no power steering for the HICAS, the rear wheels sway. Is there any way I can get rid of the HICAS. I'm interested in upgrading the suspension and maybe get into drifting, so I want it gone.

I also heard something about a HICAS diffuser. Can someone elaborate on this?

or rip out all the plumbing and get a non-hicas rear subframe. for the price of the eliminators you could really eliminate it and lose weight in the process.

btw i'd be interested in buying the rear rack and plumbing if you do remove it.

eddiec, do you mind if I ask why you would want the rear rack and plumbing. Are you doing something where HICAS would be a decent advantage? And yeah phaze1ne, as they said, you can either get the eliminators to disable it or actually get rid of the whole thing.

There's a few ways you can get rid of your HICAS.

You can get the Tomei kit (not recommended)...it's little more than a couple washers and a computer to turn off the Hicas light. This kit can be copied by either getting your own washers (or welding the steering rack) and pulling the wires for the Hicas light. It's really a crappy way to get rid of Hicas if you ask me.

You can get the Border Hicas eliminator available from SPL. Looks nice but it's a little expensive for me. On the bright side, you can still adjust toe and have heim joints instead of rose joints.

You can swap the entire rear subframe for a non-hicas one. Too time consuming and difficult for me. Difficult in the sense that transporting an entire subframe is a PITA. Plus you lose your toe adjustability and replace ball joints w/ bushings.

You can also just get a Hicas eliminator bar from Kazama or http://www.japanesemotorsport.com.au/ I bought mine from JMS (link) and it worked great. I get to adjust toe and have 4 less bushings to worry about.

to get rid of it as said before. either buy a regular subframe( better way to go imo) or buy the over priced eliminators.

now if you get an emliminator kit dont cheap out and just get the washers and call it quits. get the full bar kind. it should come with an actual bar to replace the rear arm and 4 screw type caps to cap off open lines..

but the best way to go is replace the entire rear end. -you'll get rid of extra weight -you'll save some money if you go grab one from the junk yard( like 50 bucks here)-it'll give you a chance to replace bushings lol-also with the hicas models there are certian arms that you cant use on your suspension because hicas takes the place of that there by eliminating your chances for correctly aligning your car if you lower too much.

but if you swap rears or put the bar in , find a way to get rid of the hicas light. i disconnected mine and replaced it with the change holder lol

o on another note. dont get rid of your ps pump or your steering rack. thats all im saying lol sorry if i under cut anybody.

This would be the easiest option if it's available....

240s are getting harder to find... in the hobby shop here on base, i put my car in there yesterday and started ripping it apart... (finally got this project going) and everyone was amazed to see one on the lift... Even the guys that work there say they never see the s13s anymore. When you do see one here it's usually rusted to pieces.. or multicolored... sometimes even both.
