I am one of the few people pretty happy with the sound system in my Q. I would like to get something with a similar sound in my Jeep wrangler. I installed a set of 6.5" Infinity Reference (100W rms) speakers in the sound bar, 3.5" Pioneers (100W rms) in the front kick panels and a 4x55W rms Pioneer deck last summer. It sounds like crap :( . It's tinny and has no bottom end. In college I had a similar set-up in a Toyota pickup with a Wal-Mart 4x100 peak amp and it sounded pretty good.

Here's the question. I have a 4x100w Coustic amp from an old pickup that I could fit in the Jeep under the rear seat. It has high-power inputs so I could use it with this system. Do you guys think this would provide a big boost in performance? :gotme

I don't want to spend a bunch of time wiring this in and doing a nice install just to have it not change anything. I also have no money available right now to spend on upgrading this system.

So your speakers are being driven by the headunit? If so an amplifier should make a big difference.

That's correct. I thought the 55w rms would be enough to power the 100w rms speakers, but I am thinking that it is not cutting it.

an amp will make the difference..... The q has a bose amp in the cargo and not dependant on the HU if im not mistaken, which is why youre hearing the difference.

you're never going to get any bottom end with aftermarket 6.5's..... consider getting a subwoofer, and also an amplifier on the 6.5's will make them sound better.

I have a kick-a** 10 with a 400w amp but it is too big for the space in the rear of the jeep. If hooking up the amp doesn't give me enough sound I'll try an 8 with the amp.
