Hey Guys/Gals,

I am having mad trouble getting the flywheel off. It keeps on spinning while I try to get the bolts off, and they are on there pretty good because of the thread lock, any help Please

Thanks

Tried that, but the bolts are kind of in when compared to the actual surface of the flywheel so it keeps on slipping off when I try to hold it with the wrench and turn with another wrench. ANy other ideas?

You will need either an impact wrench or a cheater bar and a way of keeping the flywheel from moving. I picked up an electric impact wrench from jc whitney to do the job. Heres the link:

When you reinstall it, you will definately want to use some red thread lock, or purchase new flywheel bolts (preferred, but way more expensive).

I usually use an impact wrench, but I've run into two situations where the impact wrench was not strong enough. Here is a solution. Use two wrenches. Large breaker bars are probably the best bet. And it helps to have an extra set of hands to help. Hold the flywheel steady using one and undo the bolts with the other. The first 5 are fairly easy. The last one is tricky since you have no more bolts to hold the flywheel steady with. At this point, thread two of the bolts back in about halfway. Then with a bar, wedge it between the two bolts so that as you loosen the last bolt, it locks against the bar. While holding the flywheel still with this bar, loosen the last bolt.

It's probably too late now, but when I removed my flywheel to get it resurfaced, ( before installing a stage III clutch) , I had a problem with the flywheel spinning aswell. What I ended up doing was wedging a large flat-head screwdriver between the teeth of the flywheel and the sheetmetal.

Hope that helps...
