I'm in calgary alberta, and so far the list is very very long for a GT-r (Some guy told me i'm looking at af ew years now at dealerships)

Is there a way to get one faster? IE Importing from another country, or finding a dealership that might have one?

As far as faster, if you get it from Japan, it will be the slowest of the countries I believe. Over here, they are governed to 180KM/H (112MPH) unless on a GPS recognized sanctioned race track...In Japan. The U.S. is supposed to have a higher speed limiter, but I don't know what it is.

There is also the issue of "cracking the ECU" on this beast.

Nissan says they put many encryptions on the ECU to prevent tuning it because it's supposed to be "at the best setting it can possibly be for maximum performance".

Apparently, in Japan, Mines has broken the code, and there was also a thread in here or in Gen Chat of an aftermarket tuning company that has supposed cracked it as well.

About the only aftermarket upgrades available at the moment for this car is the exhaust system, BOVs, wheels and aero.

You know, now that I go back and actually read the post, I see where that makes a whole lot more sense.

Hey a local Calgary boy! Me too!! But as for getting a GTR sooner i dont think you can get past the waiting list..But thats just the regualr GTR..ha ha.. what you need to do is find out the exact date that the GTR Spec-v goes on sale and get on that waiting list first. Since they are two different models and one is being released after, the Spec-v isnt going to have the waiting list! but get on it soon becasue after a while you know that list is going to be packed too!! I have friends who work at a few of the dealerships and i asked them how long the list is for the GTR and its 10 years.. so if you dont midn spending the extra cash..i think about $10-15, then thats the only option i see..

Keep checking ebay, some people sell their spot on the waiting list!

Jspec Connect had two GT-R's imported from Japan. I believe they were importing more. Has anyone else heard about this?
