Hey, I've only had my rogue for a week. Birds got to it and pooped all over the side. So last night, i went out to wipe it off. It is cold now so i had to wipe some areas multiple times to get most of it off. I thought i was protecting the paint!!!! When i got up this morning, I saw all these white lines around the areas i was whipping!!!!

Is there something i can do to fix this? Or is this a job for a professional....which i have no money for!

Thanks

Firstly, simply 'wiping' is not enough. You need soap and water to flush away the dirt otherwise you'll end up scratching the paint.

I would try washing the car properly first.

If that doesn't fix it, then a clay bar + detail spray should be able to lift off the dirt. Follow it up with a good wax/sealant and you should be good.

I like using Meguiars products, but there are other good ones out there. Check out our detailing forums:

The problem is , I think I did scratch the paint.....the white mark do not come off when i rub them with a wet finger. I will try your other suggestions. Hey, do you think car washed with the spinning brushes are bad???? it is kinda too cold to be washing myself.

Thanks!

Um.... yes. Not a big fan of automatic car washes.

Either brave the cold, or get someone to professionally wash and detail it.

Or take it to a touchless laser wash. Not as good as washing by hand or having it professionally detailed, but far far less damaging than going through a car wash in which the spinning brushes contact your car.

do you have any good hand washing techniques? Im cheap so that seems like the way to go. I have this hand glove sponge thing that i can use. that should be safe right? and I can just use the regular turtle wax and a pad. am i missing anything?

Meguiars Quick Tips Car Care Videos:

Start with Washing 101 using a Microfiber wash mitt as they suggest:

P.S. I bought a cheap microfiber mitt from Wally Mart, and use Meguiars soap of course.
