PLEASE READ : car= 97 altima ka24de {4 cylinder} I have oil in just one spark plug tube , there is a gash in the metal where valve cover meets engine, the tube seals have been replaced twice and the cover once, still leaks, been this way for 10+ years now, i will NOT be removing the valve cover and replacing seals just to find it leaking again. what i will do is reach my finger in the hole and try to seal it with... something...
I am thinking to start out with the same rtv i would use on the valve cover , and if it fails using something progressively harder.
I am hoping someone else has done this / similar with success
I am looking for suggestions on what sealant to use

HOW TO FIX OIL IN SPARK PLUG TUBE WITHOUT REMOVING VALVE COVER :
found oil in your spark plug tube ? the seals are probably leaking, you should replace them, but if you cant or wont, try this:
first things first. you want to clean that oil out, dont let a large amount of oil into the cylinder and dont let it remain on your spark plug/boot, you can clean the larger amount out with a wet vac, siphon pump or soak it up with rags. for the smaller amounts compressed air (a can of duster works or a bike pump) then rags, you can use a dowel or a stick to get the rags down in there.methods for "fixing" the leak will now be presented :

1:mobil one high mileage full synthetic 5w30 motor oil, top off with lucas oil (i use the regular lucas oil, not the ' specially for synthetic oil' stuff) . i use about 3 quarts mobil one and the rest lucas oil.

2: dielectric grease and ALOT of it. goop it all over the plug boot, in the short term this will stop oil from getting between the wires boot and the spark plug itself, there by preventing misfires. dielectric grease burns up eventually, so you may have to repeat this lets say once a year or every 10,000 miles.

3: (as i havent tried this, do at your own risk) gasket maker or epoxy. wear latex gloves, reach finger into hole and smooth the gap you feel over with whatever sealant you decide to use. i would try permatex optimum (not ultra) grey or permatex red high heat, makes sure you follow the instructions. i have personally witnessed the use of ' hard as nails epoxy' and it worked to seal the leak, however i would be hesitant to use something so permanent.

afterword: in my case i did number 2 for years with no misfires or other problems. at some point i switched motor oil from regular mobil one to the ' high mileage'(i have always topped off with lucas). either switching oil solved my problem on its own, or it had taken over a year for the seals i installed to swell enough to seal my leak.
