I have a 2004 patfinder platinuim 4wd

And I've just bought 20' wheels for my pathfinder...

but they didnt fit

I heard that there is problem with the large deep center bore

and this is why the wheels dont fit on the pathfinder

Is there any modification I can make to make it fit

I went through h**l getting my 20's to fit. I finally had to threaten the bozo's I bought my mail order wheel/tire package from (Discount Wheel Warehouse in CA) with returning them before they finally made good.

Here is the deal. A Pathy/QX4 has a 100mm hub which is, as I found out the hard way, somewhat "oddball". I purchased a set of American Racing wheels that have a 110mm center bore. Again, the hard way, I found out that no balancing process in the world will keep a mismatched bore/hub from vibrating. You need a "hub ring" that will fill the void.

It took 3 tries to get the bozos to have the correct hub ring made. First I had to convince them the wheel hub was 100mm. Their "spec sheet" had it incorrectly at 108mm. Then I had to call American Racing to determine the bore of the wheel I purchased was 110mm. They finally sent me a variety of sized rings that were made by a local machine shop; fortunately one was correct!

The bottom line- make sure that you know the center bore of your wheels and insist on a hub ring to match the wheels to the 100mm hub!

The shop that I got my rims from (Precision Installations in Valley Stream NY) machined the center bore larger to fit the front 4wd hubs (they already knew about fitment issues with the path/qx's). if you go to a COMPETENT rim shop, they should be able to do this. i've had them on the truck for acouple of months with absolutley NO problems at all.

i've only dealt with Lorne or Chris and they know their ****.

USC 45,

The operative word there is "competent". The mail order shop I got my wheel/tire package from (Discount Wheel Warehouse) was anything but. They were by far the cheapest on my package- but I guess you get what you pay for. I consider my self fortunate that they finally got me the right hub rings- more by dumb luck than anything else.

the rims that i had purchased were hub-centric. the 4wd front hub exterior nuts were the problem as they were hitting the inside of the rim. changing brake rotors would not do anything as far as fitment issues would go. if the rims you have ARE hub-centric, then you'll just need to grind/machine the inside material away. but be careful as to not remove too much, and to have the rim/tire balanced afterwards. if your rims are not hub-centric, get the rings before you install the rims, then check for the front hub clearance.

QX4Pgh-luckily my rims did not need the hub rings, but that is a big problem as well....the hub rings. i guess alot of shops just install rims and let the customer drive off, which is not good. a worst case scenario would be that the customer drove off, the wheels vibrate bad-yet the cust figures it will go away and keeps driving-the heat and vibartion causes some of the lugnuts to come loose..then,bye bye wheel. the rims that i had purchased stated that they would fit '01 path/qx's, but in fact did not because of the hub nuts. glad everything worked out for you in the end!

So what are the exact specs a 2001 QX4 4WD owner should look for in a wheel?

100mm center bore for both front and back? What offset range?

I have been looking for 20" wheels to fit also and have been having no luck. I'd rather buy them hubcentric and just "bolt" on without any machining or customizing if possible.
