With the three amplifiers, four sub woofers and all of the fiberglass pieces...... it weighs roughly 100 lbs.

Really? I knew you could work miracles Toby but DAMN! I would have thought that would have weighed 1 metric ton. Filling all that carpet with resin?

Make sure you give copies of all the pics to the owner of the car. She can frame them and bring them with her to shows and crap. Excellent photography work as well. Did Kyle do that?

Thanks man! It's not s heavy as you would think. I may be underestimating it by 20 lbs so, but it's close. Yeah, I gave her the link to my Fotki folder where I keep all of my pictures. I uploaded these build pics as I did the job...... so she could see the progression as I did built it. Thanks, I took the pics.

That is awesome. I have some small stuff I've been wanting to fiberglass but didn't know the basics. You just gave me the confidence to do it. Thanks man! Nice craftsmanship!

this is boneriffic man, you have some mad fab skills. How do you figure out air space for these, do you just take dimensions and then ballpark it with the fiberglass?

Toby, this thread is pure WIN.

After reading this, I'm going to tackle 2 projects:

The console / dash panel for my S13 (delete radio opening) and make it fit my air susp gauge / turbo timer / boost controller ...

AND

My tonneau cover for the rear of the 'vert.

Although, after looking at the pics, it seems I could refinish the entire backseat area in some nice smooth fiberglass!

Yeah, I take a lot of measurements which gets it pretty darn close. That's the nice thing about sealed enclosures, they can slightly vary in size without any ill effects.

I wish you the best of luck bro! Give me a shout if you need any pointers. You going to bring the vert out to Nashville this year?

I am in Normal, Illinois...... about 2 hours south of Chicago.

I don't know a single soul in Canada, let alone people that do this type of work.

Broadfield.........one word Perfection.....well i had one question for you i had never fiberglassed before but always had wanted to do......the question is how much would something like what you did with the sound system cost if i was to do the work myself...material wise....i have the air tools and thats bout it...i just wanted to know how much i would get into before i venture into it....tight budget so if its not too much i would def. like to do it.

thanx

Well unfortunately resin, bondo, fiberglass mat, sandpaper, primer etc. are all expensive. I would say I had a couple hundred in materials.

Where do you get the templates/frames for those subwoofers? Did you cut them out yourself or buy them that way?
