Hello. Have you taken a look at the factory service manuals available on this site? Also what year is your vehicle?

It's actually super easy, here is what I did:
1. Buy Dot 3 and find a narrow bottle to catch used PSF (I used a brake fluid bottle)
2. Jack front of JX
3. Pull out washer fluid tube
4. On the side of the Power Steering pump (faces front of vehicle) is a rubber return-tube with metal compressed clamp. Using pliers wiggle back/forth until it's removed. Careful, PSF will drain so get a bottle below.
5. Plug the PS pump hole (I used my finger)
6. Guide rubber return tube into a bottle to catch the used fluid
7. With the reservoir filled, turn steering wheel lock to lock. While turning, make sure the reservoir is filled with new fluid because it will get pumped out through the pump, then out the return tube into your bottle)
8. Keep turning (lock to lock) until fluid runs clear

That's it, took about 15 minutes (after car was jacked up)

Hi Yeller,

I'm also looking to change power steering fluid on my 2014 QX60. Your instruction are good just need something to clarify.

Why do you've to Pull out washer fluid tube?
Why you mentioned Dot 3? that's not the fluid type to use

I'm going to use Nissan OEM fluid for power steering and will be using the vacuum pump to suck it out.

Though I'm not planning to remove the power steering oil pump cover as the return hose is visible but i may have to sometime but not sure how to remove that any instructions will be helpful. Can't find any video on this?

Thanks

Good question, I don't know why I said Dot 3. I recommend using Nissan PSF. I just changed mine today.

Also, pulling the washer fluid tube and lifting the coolant reservoir to the side gave me tons of room to wiggle out the PSF return tube and seat the old-fluid catch bottle.

Can you see the attached pic and is that one in circle is the return line.

Now can i see why you pointed out pulling the washer fluid tube and lifting the coolant reservoir up to make room. Is it that one screw to get this out or there is more to it.

Also did you see the big black cover on top of the power steering fluid reservoir do you know how to remove that. ?

Thanks

Pull the washer tube out (no screws), then unscrew the nut (lower blue circle) and lift out the coolant reservoir and place the side. Nothing will spill out.

Once you have the coolant reservoir moved, lift the black cover protecting the PS pump (power steering fluid cap is poking its way through) from front to rear. Wiggle it off, no screws.

Once the black housing is removed, you can easily get to the rubber tube in the top blue circle. Get a bottle ready to catch fluid coming out of the tank and tube (once it's disconnected).

I hope this helps.

Yes, there are hidden clamps holding it dow, so wiggle off from the front, then lift off the back.

Thanks i'm going to give it a try sometime this week.

One thing i just forgot to ask how much quart of power steering fluid i need. I've 2.5 quart and wondering if this is enough or i need more before i start the flush.

It really depends how dirty your current fluid is. If you only have a one bottle, stop so you can top off the fluid after reconnecting the hose.

I ended up using two bottles but I I think I went a little overkill, meaning I could have stopped at one.
