How to disable power steering

The power steering pressure hose got seriously screwed up on my J30 and I won't be able to have the issue taken care of until the end of the week but still need my car to go to work. How can I disable the power steering system temporarily so I won't have to worry about causing accidental damage to the pump?

take out the belt.
