How to disable key release button in the ignition key cylinder?

I had a key stuck in the ignition cylinder and finally got it out by hammering the little stupid black button. I would like to know how to disable the key release button before this happens again. Does any one know how to disable the key release button so that I don't have to push it everytime I release the key?

I suppose you could remove the key cylinder and open it up and somehow wedge or disable the retainer. Be aware that some ppl who's cylinders are "broken" like that have had issues with the key falling out under cornering.

on most Nissans there is a small switch you can flip to get the key out. I had to do this one time when my battery died and in order to charge the battery I had to get into the trunk...
