How to disable daytime running lights DTRL DRL on a P10 Infiniti G20?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I searched the site first, but didn't find anything.

Anyone here know how to disable the daytime running lights? Looking at the FSM it looks to be all hooked up together, meaning you can't just pull a relay and thats it. Then the headlights won't work at all! There has to be another way to disable them properly. I need to know how do this in order for me to get euro headlights, otherwise they won't function properly.

TIA.

I was unaware the P10 had daytime running lights.

In Canada they do. I pulled the DTRL relay and it didn't make a difference! There are also no fuses to pull, except for the headlights themselves.

No, no seperate bulb. When you let the hand brake down, the DRL's kick in, and don't go off until you turn the car off. The DRL's run the high beam part of the 9004 bulb, at half power.

I could cut the wire from the hand brake to the DTRL relay, but I think that would make the brake light come in the dash, and of course if something in your brakes failed, you wouldn't know it. I can't believe they made such and advanced system in a car that old. In my 2001 Golf I had, all you had to do was put a piece of tape over one connctor and thats it :D

I wonder if a relay for the ebrake from a US made g20 would help. It's just odd they put them on the canadian made g20's and not US/Japanese made.

p.s.

I don't have ESP, but I think you got the problem fixed.
