Don't be too discouraged: there are aftermarket solutions. Nissan may not have included automatic locks, but you can still add them. Here's one our Altima guys discovered a short while back:
http://www.kptechnologies.com (it's yet another stupid flash website, so you'll have to navigate to it since I can't link straight there). It's even pretty inexpensive.
As for the mirror dimming, annoying as it is, that's not a Nissan deal. The mirrors are Homelink brand and it just so happens that Nissan, among many other auto manufacturers, offer them as a factory option.Actually, come to think of it, the OEM factory auto-dimming mirror in my 13-year-old Q45 was smarter than the new Homelink ones. Mine only goes into auto-dim mode if I have my headlights turned on. Have you checked if your Homelink one does that? I don't think the one in my dad's '04 Maxima does.

I do not like auto-locking doors, so as far as I am concerned, I am glad that my car does not have them!

Agreed. I've driven GMs with this feature, and the first thing I did was disable it. I see a LOT of people complaining about Nissans and Infinitis not having auto-locking doors, though, so I definitely wonder why it hasn't happened yet.
