I bought a JDM engine that is missing the upper plenum and injectors. How do I determine the year model of the engine? I am going to put this engine into a '93 vert. I need to know the year engine for parts ordering purposes (seal kit, timing belt kit, wiring harness, injectors).

After searching this forum I found this post:

I looked on my engine and the lonely number I could find was this:

But this is a garrett tag and I think it is not what I am looking for. Help Please!

That's your turbo. Should be stamped into the back of your passenger side (USDM) head.

I found it.

It looks like my JDM engine is a 1990. Any other way to confirm this?

If I get new style injectors, do I want a different year wiring harness?

Thanks

I'd go ahead and get the conversion kit to swap over to new style rails, but get the old style wiring harness, because the new style will have the new style CAS and PTU connector. If you order from Wiring Specialties, they make the harness with an injector subharness that is plug and play for either style.

Ok thanks. So I should get a '90 harness with a new style injector subharness. So you are saying I should buy harness to fit the engine and not the car. My engine is a '90 and the car is a '93. IS that correct?

Yes. The engine is what matters. Even then, the TT didn't get new style injectors till 95. CAS style swapped over in 92 or 93 on both N/A and TT.

But yes, I would get the old style harness and the conversion rail with new style injectors and new style subharness.
