"What kind of car did you get?"
"A Nissan Rogue."
"What's that?"

I have this question a lot. If I say "Small SUV" they envision something the size of a Ford Explorer or other vehicle that can only tow a light cruiser as opposed to a battleship.

"A little bit smaller than a Nissan Murano" implies they know what a Murano is. (Memo to Nissan: Your marketing department may be slacking off).

"It's like a Honda CR-V or a Toyota RAV-4." Is often met with "why didn't you get one of those."

What I like to say is to describe the car as what it really is - An all-wheel-drive Nissan Sentra wagon.

Any one else have a good description for their car?

It gets a little awkward when I have to tell people I drive a Nissan ROGUE, not a Rogue!

version 1
them: oh what do you drive?
me: a nissan suv
them: oh ok.

version 2
them: oh what do you drive?
me: a nissan rogue
them: whats that?
me: its a little suv. i needed it to tow my sportbike to & from the race-track.
them: oh thats cool. add small talk: good gas mileage? what options did you get? how is your insurance, etc

version 3
her: "What kind of car did you get?"
me: "A Nissan Rogue."
her: "What's that?"
me: "you dont know what a rogue is? really?
her: "no, whats a rogue"
me: "its a small all wheel drive suv / crossover. by the way did i mention that dress looks great on you?"
her: "oh wow thats so nice of you. wanna have sex?"
me: "sure!"

and when you say: "It's like a Honda CR-V or a Toyota RAV-4." and the reply: "why didn't you get one of those."
ALL YOU GOTTA SAY IS: honda and toyota both make a great cars. but they are extremely expensive to maintain. both require a rubber timing BELT to be changed every 60,000 or so miles and thats over $1,000 a pop. Nissan uses a strong metal timing chain that doesnt need any maintenance for at least 150,000miles. thats cost saving in my pocket and quality, that has earned Nissan top rated engines. ;)

Improvise anytime with explanation...just like in ImStricken's joke. Also he did remind me another joke of the same idea:
-Where were you born?
-In Russia.
-Which part?
-What "which part"? The whole body was born in Russia.

This is sooo wrong on so many levels... I just pray your better half doesn't see this as I fear she may Bobbitt-ize you! :lolling:

Back to the original question (sort of). Have you ever noticed that once you buy a particular vehicle, suddenly you see them everywhere? Case in point, the other day I spotted no less than three Rogues within the span of one hour. Given that I'm in a rural/beach resort town and it's currently off season, it indicated (to me anyway) that the Rogue is gaining in popularity. :mike

Small crossover. Never had to explain though. Rogues are ubiquitous around here.

Small Crossover/SUV is a good description. When I test drove one it felt like a taller and raised version of a Nissan Sentra Wagon.

I always say "it's a small crossover/SUV" to people that don't know. The Rogue is probable the car that Nissan is selling the most right now, here in Connecticut the Rogue has spread out like a disease.
