In our previous car, the radio would remain on even after removing the ignition key, but only until we opened the car door. Then radio shut off immediately, when the car door opened. That lets us continue to listen to a radio program without interruption, despite turning the engine off, and parking the car. This handy delay also let us close the windows, in case they were still open.

How do we enable this radio delay feature in an M? Is it possible? Or does it require installing a new relay into the radio circuit?

As far as I know you would need an aftermarket solution like THIS or THIS to add this feature to the radio. The windows already do this.

I think if you press the start/stop button twice, it will keep the accessories on and just shut off the engine.

Cool little trick if it works. :dblthumb:

edit: and if the acc power turns off when the door is opened.

Thanks Debonair & AlphaSnacks! Both are good ideas. :-)
I'll have to try the suggested "press-twice" trick when my sweetie returns home with "da beast".

Wait, so double-press leaves the ACC on until the door opens and then automatically shuts off?

Nah, it just switches to ACC, with the engine off, and radio keeps going. Opening the door doesn't seem to do anything for shut-off, but the previous car did that. For now, I'm happy with continuing to play radio w/ engine off. Hey, don't these cars have a battery Saver Circuit to power down everything after 10-15 minutes, or so? Or was that again just my previous car?

Yes, they do that and it actually annoys me lol. I like to have the radio running when I'm changing oil, etc...but I have a lift so when the car shuts off the radio to 'save power'...I'm left musicless with the car 8 feet in the air lol.

I am not a fan of this feature and I am glad Infiniti never adopted it. Everytime I drive my brother's BMW 335i around, i hate having to remember to push the radio knob twice or else the radion and the navigation screen stays on.
