Or do you want to remove it completely? If so I say use a spot welder remover bit. If not use a hole saw like said........ use a real drill with a cord, and edge cream too.

The easiest way is to use a Hole Saw just make sure you measure the diameter of the intercooler piping and purchase the correct size hole saw and drill away.

Don't wanna thread jack but, are there any other ways for me to plumb my I/C piping to my TB without relocating my battery or getting a slimmer one?

Try drilling around outside...

then connect the holes with saw or snips or file.

^ Also called chain drilling...

You can reroute the plumbing down next to the frame rail and out inbetween the frame rail and the tension rod brace, if you have the means to do so (i.e. fabrication skills).

I've found that a hacksaw works well.

Seriously guys?

Stop wasting money on wheels and junk springs that are too stiff and start investing in professional tools.

Hacking up a car is nothing to be proud of.

Get yourself a quality hole saw, because you'll likely be using it again on your next 240. It's a good feeling to know you have the right tool do to the job.

just make sure you put a rubber lining around the hole from your hole saw bit. sometimes the hole will rub through the pipe. happened to my rb's fmic pipe

please dont hack it. do it right the first time

Or, you could make your own intercooler piping and not Swiss Cheese up your poor car.

A reference picture of what I did:

Stock sized battery, stock location, no hacking or rigging involved. Get creative, don't just pluck something off the shelf.

Yeah go to lowes and spend the 40 bucks for a hole saw and edge boring cream. Then paint the batter tray for that nice clean look.

$40? Are you buying Snap On for s***s and giggles?

You just need the bit.

You don't even need Bosch if you're cutting out 1 hole.

+1 i did the same turned out nice enough haha better than having that battery tray there, im using an NRG cell battery and will be making custom brackets for it to mount somewhere next to the cold pipe.

So to the OP just use a hole saw for sure, make it look clean! id make the hole maybe an inch bigger than the piping then cut a 5/16 coolant hose down the middle and put it around the hole then drill a couple small holes for zipties around the outside of the hole to hold the hose in place IMO that would be very clean.

can we please get a shot of that from an angle that shows exactly how you did that? looks really cool but all I can see is a pipe coming from next to the battery tray.

Hole saw, jeez stop being cheap it's like no more than 10$ for it. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Harbor freight has hole saw kits for like $4. Yeah seriously, four dollars.

My hack saw comment was a joke btw.

I'll take some more shots when I get home. I admit it is pretty confusing with no explanation.

i forget how we removed the battery tray since my brother did it, but then a hole saw was the obvious choice for making the hole for the ic piping. then i used small rubber hose and split it in half to line the hole

Weather stripping for a car door works well too.

In the link in my signature, there is another link to my build gallery where it shows the pipe routing. I'd post it up myself but I'm pretty slammed at work.

This is what gave me the idea to run my I/C piping like that. It comes straight down from the TB and comes out next to my lower radiator hose. It's better to be a little creative sometimes .
