Hi,

I posted in the Nissan mechanic section but was not getting any answerers so i figured i try here as i want to put the engine in the car today

I have a 93 240sx Vert.it still has the auto trans and i am putting a 95 ka24de into it.. I have already swapped all the stuff i need over to the newer motor to make it compatible but now i need to join it "had 5-speed" to my auto transmission.

I pulled the 5-speed pinion bearing/bushing and went to the checker they have a pilot bearing that supposedly is for the auto but its exactly the same size as the one i pulled for the 5-speed? I was under the impression that the auto one was longer?

am i wrong? do i even need the auto one or is the 5-speed on fine for an auto transmission use?

any idea where i can find one all the big chains seem to have "clutch pilot bearing/pilot bushings" and they seem to be for 5-speeds...

any help would be great!!

My engine is toast and i found a super low mile 95 engine that was in front of a 5-speed.

i plan to do the 5-speed swap later but at the moment i am missing the front part of the 5-speed axle and cant afford the 150 that local crappy yards will charge me.. "Tucson az"

so i decided i just want to get it up and running for now and get all the parts ready for later.

You'll need to add the torque converter and flex plate from your old auto setup, and swap the pilot bearing back for an auto bearing.

is it still called a pilot bearing or is it called something else? auto bearing?

I have the torque converter flex plate and flex plate adapter already so i am good to go just need to figure out what to do about this damn bearing.. looking at the old engine i don't honestly see any sort of bearing or bushing where the pilot bearing was on the manual engine.. just the crank bolt-up flange?

thanks i will see if i can find the "auto bearing" does anyone know the exact name or maybe even a part number for auto zone, Napa, BAP, or parts America\Checker?

thanks again!

its funny how your trying to put in an auto pilot bearing in and it took me hours to get mines out.

anyways, your going to have get it at a nissan dealership or at:

I think you won't even have to take out the manual one b/c the manual pilot bearing is further inside the crankshaft than the auto one which sticks out a lot.

thanks for the part number and link!

and the best part of all is i will be pulling this damn thing back off again in a month or two when i have the cash to get the last couple parts for the 5-speed swap...

just get a pilot bearing puller and slide hammer from on of the parts stores// Checker..

made quick easy work of the one i pulled... 1 of my auto engines didn't have any sort of bearing there! and the other was pulled with the puller pretty easy so i could see what i was looking for
