OK, this is a bit of a mess....

I got some overspray on the rear of my 90Q. I was painting some railings 30 feet away, and the wind shifted and carried the spray into the garage. Damn.

You really can't see it- it is a very fine mist- but you can feel it on the surface

Here's the problem: the paint is a two part epoxy- designed for ultra high bond, high strength metal undercoating. It is a phenomenally tenacious product for exterior railings (I used a catalyzed acrylic urethane for top coat).

Anyway, solvents won't touch it.

I used some car wax and a buffer and that didn't remove it.

I could try something more aggressive (fine compound?) but I get the feeling the expoxy may be harder than the paint...

Thoughts?

Thanks

Ard

Say no more. And don't use any more solvents / compounds, etc.

CLAY BAR. You can buy the kit at any good auto parts store (Pep boys, etc). I like the Mother's brand clay bar.

Well, if it works I'll owe you.

(I didn't bother with any solvents, since I know this paint.)

Next time I am in Phoenix I'll buy you a drink. (I visit Baptist hospital off Bethany Home and 19th every couple of months)

I've also been threatening to visit Joe over in scottsdale, but nevery had an afternoon free.

Clay bar is what pro bodyshops use to remove overspray (some invariably gets under the maskking paper when shooting a panel alone).

I had my heart surgery at Baptist Hosp. What's the purpose for your visits?

Let me know when you're in town, I'll round up the local Q folks.

Ooooh. I'm on the other side if the equation when I visit: I run clinical trials for a medical device company... one of our investigators is there.

If all else fails, you might also want to try and visit your local car dealership's detail dept (any car dealership, not just Infiniti) and see if they can use their clay bars and/or rubbing compounds. I've noticed the stuff they have is quite a bit more agressive than the kind you can buy in stores... and they can usually get out some pretty bad blemishes
