I've just read alot about people cleanings up the casting from the center water passage to get good cooling to the back.. But haven't found any tips on how to do it, mainly what tools to do it with? .. My machine shop wouldn't do it, probably cuz it was an unfamiliar thing for them.. But I've read it's not that hard with patience, and ive got my block set up in front of my tv in my living room, ha so I'll have plenty of patience

So any tips? Cuz right now it's lookin like going down to homedepot and buying some huge drill bits to run all the way through the center, unless theres a better technique

DOOOOOO NOT run a large bit through the passage!!!! there are also oil passages in that area. if you cut too deep...well everyone knows oil mixed with coolant is bad new for any engine...

best approach is to remove the freeze plugs and go in through there.

I did plenty of searching before I asked the question.. I guess I should have been more specific, i was looking more for specifics on how and what to do it with and what to look out for. The best I could find was before and after pics.. Which by the way that was a great link! Just stopped by the tool store, got a big drill extension and a carbide deburring bit that only cost $25! Pricey little bit.. I'll take lots of pictures of the process and if all goes well for me maybe I'll write up a small page to help future z owners :)
