Before I install this SR I picked up, I need to know the best way to clean out the rust in the water passages. I took a flashlight and looked into the water lines and noticed a crap load of rust lined in the steel tubes. There is a lot of rust in there. It looks as though its clogged up 25% of the water passage. I would REALLY like to remove all I can before installing the engine with a new radiator. Any tips on how I should go about cleaning the water passages before installing the motor?Thanks...

If you can get the car to run on the ground just connect the water hoses to 5gal bucket having both under water with some Prestone flush/cleaner and run it on the bucket for a while then feed it fresh water from a garden hose.

IF you can not get the wiring harness out of the car or you dont want to do this then install it with your old rad and go to Walmart and get a backflushing kit from Prestone and various cleaners. Ghetto rig your rad with whatever you can and follow the directions. Drain afterwards put new rad in with straight water, run till warm, drain, and fill 50/50 coolant and a bottle of water wetter/ purple ice/ whatever additive you like best.

Instead of starting the motor on a stand, couldn't you just spin the water pump manually? I'm sure that it wouldn't be that hard to rig it up to a drill or something just to get it cleaned out.

My advice is to pull the steel lines and run a snake of some kind down into them.
