Ok guys when i got my new s13 the sr20det have some problems and is off at the machine shop as we speak, and there was a pretty good amount of blow by making its way into the intercooler piping and possibly the intercooler, just wandering what i should use to clean it out with?? And if anyone else has done this before??

Intercooler just hit it with water and soap or some sort of cleaner. Pipes I usually throw in the solvent tank or also just water with a cleaner. If the piping is not aluminum you could glass bead them and then paint whatever color you please also.

If you want it polished still to just get the dirt and what not off and hit it with a drill with a buffer & polish wheel.

For the inside of the pipes I use throttle body cleaner or any degreaser that doesn't leave resin on the metal.

How much did they charge you to have it boiled? I have a godspeed IC 24x12x3 that came painted black, will it take off the paint? I want to repaint it because their pant is to thick and looks like it interferes with the cooling of it.

it should be fairly cheap i had mine boiled and they also spot welded a puncture and i paid $70 total. so i would guess like $30 idk know if that process is gonna strip the cooling fins of paint like you want but whatever solvents they use does dull the finish out

Be careful using hot tanks because most solutions eat away at the aluminum, thats why you have to buff it afterwards. Be sure to check it often so you don't end up with an aluminum cube. Most hot tanks over time will remove paint.

i thought it might have done that i actually seen the grid impression behind the side walls of the ic luckily the only ebay item on my car is a cheapo big mouthed front mount , but yea beware if you have a greddy or more expensive unit, ha unit.
