My 96' I30 which is 125k is hard to start in the morning again. The engine was cleaned by a mechanic a month ago after the transmission rebuilt. It cost almost $600. So I would like to clean the parts by myself, anyone know how to do it. Would you let me know?(There is no check engine light at all and the knock sensor was replaced 2 weeks ago.)

This is a labor description which I got last month.

CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START ------------ $192HAS SPARK AND INJECTOR PULSE. HAS GOOD FUEL PRESSURE. INSPECTED SPARK PLUGS AND FOUND PLUGS GAS FOULED.REPLACED SPARK PLUGS WIHT O/E STYLE.CARBON BUILD UP CAUSING HARD START WHEN COLD.NEEDS TO CLEAN MOUNTING SURFACE BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. REROUTE GROUND CABLE TO THE STATER BOLT.

CLEAN MATING SURFACE BETWEEN TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE.INSTALLED GROUND CABLE TO THE STARTER BOLT. AFTER CLEANING VEHICLE NOW STARTS AND RUNS. -------------- $352

Thanks.

I'm not really sure what to advise there.

I know a lot of people like products like Simple Green for cleaning grease.

Maybe some of the others can suggest some other good detergents for engine cleaning.
