how to check timing wiht timing gun

90 300zx n/a 2+0 how do you check the timing on it with a timing gun?? do you have to take off the whole housing that covers the belt??

there si a black wire loop next to the ptu that you can clamp the timing light pickup on but not all lights will work this way, I use an old pathfinder plug wire and make a bridge betweent he #1 cop and the #1 spark plug, the timing indicators are located ont eh crank pulley liek any other car just kinda hard to see but they are down there
