How to check igniter?

Yes Ive already searched but it doesn't say how to check the continuity of my igniter, I have a multimeter I set it to resistance measure and tried all the tabs on the the plugs of the igniter and got no reading. So I think it is fried but I just want to make sure I was doing it right?
