How to check if used stock rods are within spec?

I just purchased some stock rods for a rebuild I have going on and one of them is no good. How can I check the other ones though? The reason I got them is the deal was too good to pass up. Is bringing them to a machine shop the only way to check?

Grab a service manual, and the steps to checking specs are in there. We have links for them in the SR FAQ
