Hey guys, is there a good writeup on doing the breaks for someone that has never done them?

Wow that's cool I didn't know you could take the pads out without removing the caliper.

If you do end up taking the calipers out of the front for some reason, make sure you remove the steel brake line leading up to it. I took my caliper out without paying attention andI didn't remove that line, and of course I broke that brake line...ended up having to make a new brake line which does not equal fun. I learn from my dumb mistakes.

If you do have to remove the caliper, to replace the rotor for example, you can just hang the caliper by its mounting holes with a wire coat hanger and hook the other end around the coil spring

Even with the steel brake line? I just barely moved my caliper off the rotor and the line snapped.

Maybe the steel line is only on early models?

Rubber lines from wheel well to upright, there is a clip in the upright that holds the rubber line in place where the steel line threads in. Unclip that and you can move the line around.

i removed my calipers to paint them and i had enough wiggle with the steel lines... maybe your lines were already bent to the max before.....

Ah gotcha. This method is much better as there is no need to bleed afterwards

If you are doing the brakes its always a good idea to either change the fluid or bleed the lines.

This isnt something you do every 5k miles so take the time and do it right
