Kind of a noob question. Where do I fine the drain plug and fill hole for my transmission and diff. was driving home from the shop and it sounded like a airplane inside. was thinking maybe it has no transmission fluid or my huge power steering leak. thanks
loud noise sounds like an air plane is most likely a locked up fan clutch,
the drain plug for the trans is on the bottom the fill plug is on the side, the diff has the drain near the bottom of the cover and the pill plug about half way up, but I suspect the fan clutch is your issue
how do I fix that,I am having problems with my clutch lately, not wanting to go into gear, and what not, shop said I need a new one, and suggestions on how to save some money and fix the noise.
used fan clutch is cheaper than new, z1 sells used parts
does your clutch slip? like in 4th or 5th when you mash it? it's true a bad clutch can make shifting gears tricky especially reverse and firrst, if it's all gears it likley synchro's (read as need a used transmission) or the shifter bushings or support bracket, both common issues and fairly cheap parts
